HARMONY ROAD is an acoustic duo that brings an eclectic mix of cover songs from the 60's into the 2000's. Our emphasis is on simple instrumentation: strummed or fingerpicked guitar, soft percussion and a pleasant vocal blend. We cover artists like Paul Simon, James Taylor, Gordon Lightfoot, Bonnie Raitt, Carole King, etc.
HARMONY ROAD BIO
Lisa Colgrove and Mark Nielsen, have been making beautiful music together for nearly 15 years. Their paths first crossed when a mutual friend and bandmate introduced them, setting the stage for a partnership that blends rich harmonies and diverse musical influences.
Mark’s musical journey began in high school, where he taught himself to play guitar. Starting with the classic sounds of John Denver, Gordon Lightfoot, Neil Young, Crosby, Stills & Nash, and Paul Simon, he eventually expanded his repertoire to include intricate solo guitar pieces by artists like Al Petteway, John Renbourn, Pat Kirtley, and El McMeen. Mark is especially passionate about guitar work and harmonies.
Lisa’s love for music began in her childhood, starting with the piano, though she didn’t continue with it long-term. Her vocal style is deeply influenced by the iconic crooners of the 70s, such as Carole King, Bonnie Raitt, and Karen Carpenter, but she also loves the sounds of rock, pop, bluegrass, and folk, with artists like John Denver, Gordon Lightfoot, Neil Diamond, and James Taylor leaving a lasting impression on her musical identity.
The diversity of the music is such that they take turns singing lead and background vocals. Together, Harmony Road creates a dynamic duo, covering beloved songs from across decades. With Mark’s expert guitar playing and harmonies and Lisa’s heartfelt lead vocals, their music brings a blend of nostalgia and fresh sound, inviting audiences to enjoy the timeless songs they all know and love.
